Husky Puppy Q&A

Hello my lovelies! I have been promising this post for a while and I will be doing a video on this but I thought I would answer a number of questions about Dante since you all have been asking me a number of different questions. Here is my Husky Puppy Q&A for you lot.

22221629_120722888594441_2086345501234122167_n

1) What is his name and his age?

His name is Dante after Dante’s Inferno (I don’t know the poem or story) but that’s who he is named after. He was born on the 16th of May 2017 so that makes him 8 months by the time this post goes out.

2) Does he get on with both of the kittens?

He used to be so scared of the kittens and now they’re all kind of friends. We wanted to get a puppy and kittens close in age so they grow up together. Don’t get me wrong, they do have they’re moments with each other for the most part they’re all fine. The three of them give them as good as they get.

3) What is his favourite thing to do?

I would have to say go outside as he loves meeting people. He is a massive people’s dog and just loves company. He also loves eating. He will sit beside you and give you the paw, waiting for you to give him something.

4) Does he have any special diet?

Day to day he gets fed three times a day on dry nuts which he loves. We have this way that if he eats, that’s all good but if he doesn’t, I tend to leave it down for 20 minutes and then take it away if he doesn’t. He also gets salmon or tuna and boiled eggs with the egg shells once a week.

5) Does he know any tricks?

He can sit down, lay down, give the paw and give a fist pump. He could sit with a click when we got him at 10 weeks so we’ve done the rest. We are currently trying to teach him how to roll over, heal and speak!

6) What does he do to annoy you?

He has very bad separation from my partner so whenever he leaves, he will sit at the door and cry for hours on end and there’s nothing that I can do. I have tried everything and now it’s just the fact that I ignore now which seems to make him settle. Also when we don’t get up on time, he tends to pounce on us.. which isn’t very pleasant.

7) What is your favourite thing about him?

Oh my… I have so many as he does a number of things that he does that’s so cute. When I’m feeling down and sad, he will come up and cuddle me until I feel better. No matter how long I’m gone for, he is always there and very excited to see me.

Do you have any questions about Dante? Let me know in the comments below and I will answer them all.

Things You Learn When You Get A Puppy

Hello my lovelies! Me and the boyfriend has had our puppy Dante since the middle of July where he came to us at 10 weeks old. He is now about seven months and still is a puppy. Over the past few months, I have learned a lot about puppies and dogs in general. I am bringing you Things You Learn When You Get A Puppy to open peoples eyes before they get one as it’s not easy but it’s so rewarding at the same time.

Chewing

No lie, if you’re not expecting a puppy to chew things, you have another thing coming. They will chew anything from shoes, socks to your hand without a doubt. Chewing is something that puppies do to feel and when they’re teething. Chewing will happen right in front of you and when your gone. You need to puppy proof your house from the obvious things that they can chew – lesson learnt here. We went out and came back and found he was chewing coal : which does no harm.

Costings

Everyone says that the cost of a puppy is expensive and they’re not wrong. You need to factor in the food (we spend €20 a week on food for him), vaccines, worming and flea treatment which is very three months and neutering. Up front with all the vaccines, worming and health checks, I say we’ve spent over €400 on the dog not including buying him. Other costs include trainers, kennels, equipment and even grooming!

Hair Will Get Everywhere

As I have a Husky, they shed twice a year but hair does get everywhere. If your not ready for the hair to get everywhere, you need to get a breed that doesn’t shed. A Dyson Hoover will be your best friend when it comes to dog hair – may be expensive but so worth it. Brushing the puppy will eliminate some amount of hairs.

Accidents Do Happen

No matter how well the puppy is trained, accidents will happen. If you don’t want a puppy to pee or poo all over your house, consider getting an older dog. Puppy pads will also be your best friend and training them from an early age. Our puppy knows to go the door when he needs to go out to use the bathroom and it’s a good system – we didn’t train him but we’re so grateful for his old owners for drilling it into him from a young age.

Growing

A puppy will grow super fast – I do think they grow quicker than babies, to be honest. They won’t stay a puppy forever. Don’t get a puppy because you think it’s cute and may be small – in the likely hood, it will grow way bigger than you expected. Dante has grown so much over the past couple of months and he still has a lot of growing to do. You can tell a puppy’s height by looking at it’s paws – big paws equals big dog and vice versa.

Separation Anxiety

Separation Anxiety is the main thing I’ve learned since getting a puppy and it is a real thing. I have lost days of sleep because my other half has gone away for a few days or even a night. Dante will cry and cry until he comes home by sitting at the door waiting for him. I’ve learnt that we should’ve left him for an hour every day when he was younger so he would get used to being without one of us.

These are all of the things that I have learned since getting Dante and I’m pretty sure there are a lot more of things that I need to learn too while he’s growing up.

Did you ever have a puppy? Did they teach you anything? or do you want to get a pupp?

My Experience In the Equestrian World

Hello my lovelies! I’ve been in the Equestrian World for over for 10 years and it has so many ups and downs. The Equestrian world can be fun but also can be awful – just like any other community!

I have been horseriding for over 10 years at this stage. In this time, I got my horse qualifications, show jumped and gave people a few lessons. I’ve also owned and leased a number of horses. I’m not a blow in so I do sort of know what I’m talking about.

Competitive Side

The competitive side is a whole different world from people stealing tack, judges that are biased and a number of other things. So many judges “may” take a a bribe here and there but a lot of them are biased in the showing ring. In the show jumping ring it’s a whole different story indeed.

Show jumping is based on your round and that only. You need to jump the fastest time without any faults. There are some judges that have it out for people – there are strict rules to follow but some of them are extremely strict. There has been a lot of controversy in the ways where judges disqualified people over silly things – especially well known riders. Mr Allen was disqualified before for ” misusing ” his spurs when in reality there was a little bit of skin missing and they wouldn’t take a closer look – which caused a lot of drama in the community and so many people backed him and he could’ve won.

Working

I have worked in a number of different yards in Ireland. From helping out, being apart of a show jumping yard and even working to pay off my livery. The one thing about working in the equine world is that unless you Have contacts you will get paid well. If not you will get paid crap. You can’t go into the Equestrian world and expect well pay.

I was working at a show jumping yard in a different county in Ireland. I was working from 8am to 6pm most days but it would go over a lot of the time. I was working 6 days of the week for €60. I left after a week as it was a pain in the hole to be quite honest. I will never underestimate myself like that again.

Changes

I hope in the past two to three years that I haven’t been in the community things have changed. This time around, I will not be underestimating myself and I will be sticking to my ground. I will be expecting proper pay and all that. We will see if it’s changed in the coming months!

Have you ever been in the Equestrian community? If you have, let me know in the comments all about your thoughts.

Love, Bee ox.

Meet The Puppy!

Since I haven’t been blogging ina while, I have got some new family members not including ” Sox ” the kitten I posted on here a while ago. We have also got a 6 month old Husky Puppy called ” Dantè ” – he is more so my boyfriends but he’s sort of mine too!

Dantè is a full bred Siberian Husky and he is one of the most funniest puppys I have met in my life. He has such an attitude and is very vocal – like all Husky’s. He’s one of the best things to ever happen to me ( other than my boyfriend ). He’s the number two guy in my life!

I have learnt so much since getting him at 10 weeks old. He is 2 weeks younger than the kittens we have. He is so smart and has his own little quirks which I definetly don’t want him to get rid off!

Facts About Dantè

  1. He was born in May 2017 in Croatia.
  2. His favourite food has to be everything – no matter what we have, he will want it.
  3. Right now he weighs about 15kgs which is an average weight of Husky’s around his age.
  4. He sleeps in our bed with us and tends to push me out of the bed – he will be sleeping on the floor once he’s bigger as three of us definetly won’t be able to fit in there.
  5. If you give out to him, he gives out back which seems to be a big trait in Husky’s.
  6. He is currently full and we do not have a plan of casterating him yet as we’re thinking about showing and breeding him in the future.
  7. He has two different coloured eyes – which are my favourite.
  8. Everytime we go into Town – we get stopped on average about ten times as people want to rub him and ask about him.

I will be doing the Furry Friend Tag on my Youtube Channel with all the three animals so you will need to watch out for that!
